"They did a credit inquiry for a quote without mentioning it! I filled in information for an online quote at the Statefarm website and received a call from Aaron Toews asking if I was still looking for insurance and I said yes but I’m at work and he looked at the quote estimate that was given to me online that I received the night before. So I told him I was at work and he said “okay, would it be fine if I sent over the quote online through email and I said yes.” Then I said I look at the email when I can. And we hung up. Fast forward to now and I get a letter from Statefarm that they’ve obtained my user credit inquiry. When they didn’t Even mention that during the call. Keep in mind the call only lasted one minute so there’s no way we discussed credit because I would have said no and the call would’ve been longer than a minute.The summary of Consumer Protections in Chapter 599 clearly states an insurer may not use a Credit inquiry that is not initiated by the consumer. So I’m calling everywhere to figure out why would they run my credit without permission to the Texas Department of insurance."

When you start a quote online you would have already had to approve for State Farm to run your consumer reports (credit and loss history information) before any of your information gets sent to our office for review. Once we receive your information, we reach out to go over the information already provided, we would never run your consumer reports without consent. Please give our office a call at 972-475-6994 so we can discuss this further. We hope to hear from you soon! "
